OK, so after sending Biden to Serbia where he had already won the prize for "most hated American", and following that Kosovo, I speculated about where Obama might send Biden next in his continuing quest to get rid of him. Well, now we have the answer: Beirut!

Hezbollah lawmaker Hassan Fadlallah said on Friday that Biden's visit to Lebanon is a clear bid by Washington to "meddle" in the country's internal affairs.
When I started these posts covering Biden's travels, I was seriously joking about Obama hoping someone would take a shot ... but come on now ... Serbia, Kosovo, Beirut ... at the very least Obama is punishing Biden for being such an embarrassment.
[Update] AP reports:
U.S. support for Lebanon shot up after the Hariri assassination under the former Bush administration, which had isolated Syria. But the Obama administration has shifted policy, reaching out for a dialogue with Syria and Iran. Those moves have alarmed America's allies in Lebanon.
So ... Biden gets sent to a place where America's allies are feeling betrayed, and America's enemy (Hezbollah) feels threatened by his presence. Joe ... don't just watch your back ... wear a Kevlar vest and watch every direction at once!
[Further update] I'd forgotten this gaff during the election campaign:
BIDEN: When we kicked -- along with France, we kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon, I said and Barack said, "Move NATO forces in there. Fill the vacuum, because if you don't know -- if you don't, Hezbollah will control it."

Biden said really nasty things things about Serbs and suggested that USA should occupy their country ... and Obama sent him to Serbia. He said incendiary things about Hezbollah, and suggested the NATO should occupy Lebanon ... and Obama sends him to Lebanon. Ummm ... I don't suppose my conspiracy theory (meant as a joke) might actually be right????

I'm not the only one starting to notice that something funny is going on: Sweetness and Light comments:

We realize that the administration is eager to get the Vice President out of the country. And probably they figure, the more dangerous the destination the better. But isn’t there already enough instability in the Middle East without sending Mr. Biden to Lebanon?
