Obama’s Axis of Evil vs Bush’s Axis of Evil
In line with Obama’s stinging attack on Ireland, the Netherlands, and Bermuda, I thought this would be timely. Apologies for the two images being out of scale.

Bush’s Axis was IRAQ, Iran and North Korea. He eliminated Saddam’s Iraq, as LibMedia mavens dread to remind us. Not Syria. Doesn’t ANYBODY have a recollection of the recent headlines anymore?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I thing Saddam Hussein is represented by the smoldering pile on the left of the table.
They just added Syria in as a replacement.

If you click through, you’ll see that the explosion on the left IS Iraq.

Well, Bush actually said Iraq, Iran and North Korea were PART of an access of evil. Syria fits the job description.

MH,
Bush adapted Syria into the axis, as spoken through Bolton in 2002. You could also put Cuba and Libya in the cartoon and still be correct.

After his international apology tour, don’t you think the United States itself is on Obama’s Axis of Evil list?

I don’t recall Syria being mentioned although it should have been. Iraq was part Bush’s axis of evil. The point is well taken though. Who Obama decides to go after is rather questionable. Domestically his axis of evil might be Rush, hedge funds and bankers. Who else has the administration vilified?

Remember you are now talking about liberals. They don’t believe in the concept of evil. Remember their famous quote: “one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.” A notable exception of course is that if you believe in freedom, democracy, and capitalism, you are evil.

Syria replaced Iraq after Iraq got scratched. And Iraq is the unnamed black scorch mark to the left of Syria in the cartoon. That is why the rest of the Axis is listening to Mr. Bush.
I think the cartoonist knew exactly what he was doing when he made this cartoon back in 2003.

While busy belittling the present administration you might do well to note that bad as Saddam was, he offset Iran, kept them at bay. With that tyrant being killed we now have Iran ruling the middle east and in the cat bird seat now.

If Iraq had remained patent, perhaps we would have indeed seen the result of leaving the Husseins in power in Baghdad. Two megalo-maniacal sons and zero checks on their power. http://www.accessmylibrary.com/coms2/summary_0286-7038052_ITM

First comment: I would have preferred a picture of just Iraq, Iran, and North Korea, but I just couldn’t find a good one. That cartoon does indeed have Iraq (the smoldering ruin) and in fact Cuba is sitting off to the right as well if you follow the link. If only Venezuela had been in the picture too I could have made a different comparison to Obama’s friends.
Second comment: David Still, I think you have a good point about Iraq offsetting Iran, but I wonder if it isn’t better for the US this way. The rest of the Middle-east is fearful of a Persian take-over. Without Saddam’s Iraq, who can they turn to, if not USA? Of course, it’s a whole new ballgame if the regional powers (including but not limited to Israel) conclude that they cannot rely on the US.

An axis, by definition, is three. So if Iraq got squashed there would have to be a replacement or it would no longer be an axis.

I thought Obama’s axis of evil was Ford, Chevy and GM? He’s certainly done everything he can to ensure their long-term destruction.

Syria is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Iran. They definitely belong on the table.

I didn’t realize that the more tyrants there are, the better off the world is. What a narrow and self-serving point of view.
“An axis, by definition, is three.”
Hence, our daily dose of ignorance. On what “definition” is axis limited to only three?

now that everyone is done discussing whether Syria is part of the axis of evil, I’d like to say thanks for using a Cox and Forkum comic on your blog. I love those guys and wish they were still around.
Syria still belongs on the list even if Bush didn’t mention them. They’re evil enough. (couldn’t help but put my 2 cents in).
