At the level of grand strategy I think it has become obvious that the neocons were right and that the US is winning the war on terror. In the Muslim world support for bin Laden and terrorism are way down, while support for democracy is way up. (via Instapundit)

And simultaneously in the US, support for Bush and war are way down; democracy took a hit too. I wonder if this was part of the strategy?

Depends on what you mean by support for the war. The number of people who think the US should stick with the war has always been high, and relatively steady. On other questions like "is the war going well" or "was the war worth doing" or "did the war make the US safer" the numbers are lower and more volatile. But at the moment they are relatively high. The numbers for those sorts of questions all picked up a lot after Bush's last big speech on the war.
BTW, support for Bush is just over 50%, or roughly the same proportion of the vote he got in the last election. It has also gone up recently, but that probably has more to do with the economy picking up rather than the war.

Al Qaeda runs team building exercises!
I wonder if I can request their annual report? "Death to all infidels, may their carcasses be feasted upon by a thousand vultures" would be quite a unique mission statement.
I don't suppose they're an equal opportunities employer?

Hi there Dr. Strangelove! This is a bit off topic, but it was a major deja vu to find your blog with the same name as my user name! I snooped around for a bit and found out that our user names have nearly the same origin! Spooky, huh?
